I have always

had a passion for reading.

I still have the first book I ever tryed to read.

Ballerina Bess.

But I noticed it was getting harder to see.

Well I went to the Eye Doctor and she said " If you want to continue to read, BIFOCALS"

I have been on a lot of meds. for the past 2 years and they are affecting my eyes now.

So I did the Grown-up Thing and got Bifocals.

I have been reading The Forgotten Garden.

So far it's great.

It is about a little girl who is left on a ship with a book of fairy tales, that is headed to Australia in 1913. Like all books there is so much more to say. So If you want check it out.

Remember my little JUJU. She went to get groomed the other day and the groomer cut her. They took her to her vet and she had to have 2 stitches.........My pooor BABY.

She is okay. I don't think it made a huge impression on her. But MOMMY was all shook up............

Geometric Potholder and Lilly's

I just got back from Wishing My Dad a Happy Father's Day. Such a fun day.

Very cool potholder I crocheted. Just lovin it. The pattern is by Priscilla Hewitt. Geometric Potholder. I printed out the pattern and it does not say a web address. I should have written it down. Oh Well !!! Out of the 3 plastic bins that I have you would think I had white yarn. Nope not one.
So what does that mean ????? I had to make a trip to the store just for white yarn. HAHAHA

My mother-in-law's Lilly's are so pretty now. I forgot to take pictures of her poppies. They were Gorgeous. It's sad though they only last a few days.

I have this wonderful book that I really need to find a new home for.

As you can see it is by Leisure Arts 127 pages I bought it for $14.94. Then I went to a garage sale and found the same book but hardcover for $2.00. Wow how could i let that go.

Flap Hat Love

I have just loved those Flap Hats!!!

Never made one but thanks to Joan and Brenda at Angelwings I can make them now. I used a pretty ribbon to accent it. The pattern called for a different colored yarn.

Another of my knitted scarf. This one is with Baby Alpaca that cost a $ 16.00 a skein. What was I thinking at the time. I realllyyyy love the yarn though.

New Knit Scarf LOOOVE IT

I have not been going to my knitting group for over a year. But they still send me newsletters. This pattern was in there. Very Simple. You can make it as wide as you want, as long as it is a odd number.

Co 11

Pattern : Knit2, *yarn over,knit 2 together* end with knit 1.

Keep doing Pattern till done. Very easy and mindless.

So I made 2. and I am working on #3.

Yarn was Plymouth Thick.

My first coaster. For Spring of coarse!!!!! I really like to use thick yarns.When my hands hurts it is easier to use thicker yarns.

The black one I used Lion Brand Thick.

Dollar store flowers for my milk glass. Pretty I think.

My first ever quilt

One thing I always wanted to learn was to make a quilt. I finally got enough courage to make one. I have been hoarding Amy Butler's LOVE fabric and I didn't know what to do with it. My handicapped sister-in-law's birthday was Wednesday. So I gave her my first quilt.

I have made pocket in a quilt before but no real quilt. I even did binding. To me that was scary. But I just LOVE it.

I am so Happy with it. It is 10 inch squares. I quilted them in the ditch. I did not want to do anything to hard.

<<>This poor kitty. I have used this before. I just think it is soo cute. We have stray Cats around.3 black and white long hair. This winter has been sooooo bad cold, ice, and snow. We have been feeding them cat food. Plus please don't forget the chickens. we feed them too. I am amazed that they cross the street every day to for us to feed them. It's a shame that the owner does not feed them. We are getting hammered with snow again.. So far 6 inches. Plus ice.

One of my addictions is M & M's. I try to get every new season's.

I don't always put them in a tea cup though.

My Ripple Scarf I double it and make a loop. So comfy and warm. I got the pattern from Lion brand.

One heart I made. Not very pleased with it found the pattern through Theresa's site on my blog bar. She has wonderful tutorials. This one was on you tube

Can't wait for Valentine's Day. We always know Spring is not far away.

I am a very big thrifty person. I believe that If we can reuse things than lets try to. So I was at my favorite shop and they had these cups and plates. I think they are form 40's and 50's or maybe 60's. I love the colors.

Don't ya love steamy hot chocolate muffins. I only made 5 cuz well my husband and I are trying to change the way we eat. I guess you could say diet. But I hate that word.

I have been crocheting. I made a scarf that I will post about next time.

Waiting for the next part of the winter storm today. Everything is closed due to ice and snow.

Moda Bake Shop

I love to sew. But I am not that good at it. My lines are crooked. I really love sewn pillows and quilts and things. I have made basic curtains and a few tote bags. Nothing fancy. So I started to to collect patterns. Now Moda is having a Progressive Dinner. What Fun. They are giving stuff away plus you can meet other bloggers. This is my granny square afghan I made took forever . I love the crazy left over colors.

We are expecting more snow today. Yeah. We have had around 70 inches this winter. YUCK.

Are temps are around 0 at night. Verry cold.

Pillow and Chickens

My neighbor has 3 chickens. They cross the street to come to our house to be feed. Cuz we fed the deer so why not chickens too.

Mandella Pillows!!! I could not find round pillow forms locally. The one I did find cost $17.00. Do you know how much yarn i could buy for that?

The pattern came from Attic 24's site I love how big it is. I overstuffed it too. Pretty bright colors..My girls are soooo cute. Sweetie looks a little temper mental in this picture. I tryed to get them to wear there rabies tags but they kept chewing on them.

I am starting a new medicine on Wednesday. My hands have hurt alot. That's why it took so long. I hope it works...

Another 2 trips to Cleveland Clinic....

What A Amazing Place. They help so many people. They can't seem to decide what is going on with me. But they have a good idea. Maybe RA. Who knows.

I know my hands hurt alot.I have been on high doses of Prednisone for over a year.. Now that SUCKS. Now they want me to give myself injections. I hope that one helps. If one drug does not work they find more to try.

Please Meet JU JU. Yes it is a strange name. But I just love her.

We drove to Pa to get her at a breeder's house. So Cute. She is 10 weeks old and a Bichon Frise. She really loves to get into everything.

I am finally getting out the depression that I was in cause of losing Jewel. THANK GOD> I still cry for her. But much better.

I really need to crochet or knit something. Not much of that going on. I want to make pillows. So i think i will check out a few of my favorite sites and start one.

Sad Lately

I have been very sad lately, We lost our Miss Jewel dog. She would have been 13 in July. I really have not felt like doing anything.

We are going to get another Bichon. Hopefully soon. We have been calling around. So now Tiny dog and Miss Jewel are gone. We were lucky with Tiny he was 17 years old. We had a wonderfully long time together.

What can I say about Miss Jewel but she was " my girl" . I was very close to her. My heart feels broken.

Swiffer Thingy

Who would have guessed I would write up a very simple pattern for a swiffer thingy. There are so many out there. So I am sure mine is just like someone Else's. I enjoyed this simple thing. Our whole house is old hard wood floors so these dusty things come in handy.

So here it goes:

Chain 33

Row 1 DC in 4th ch. from hook then DC across. 31 DC

Row 2- 9 Ch3 turn DC across

Now we will be working in the round

Row 10 Chain 1, SC around, Do 2 SC in each corners. all the way around. Join with a slip stitch at end.

Row 11 Chain 1, SC around and do 2 SC in each corner. join with slip stitch.

Row 12 Chain 1 DO 2 SC, SC2Tog, Repeat all the way around. Join with slip stitch.

Row 13 Same as Row 12

Row 14 Sc around join with slip stitch.

Row 15 Same as Row 12

Weave in all ends. Viola!!!! Finished!!!!

I think it needs some flowers. What do you think????

Tuesday Tea (pot)

So this is one of my favorite tea pots. So simple. Ya see my grandma used to live in a old post office building and this reminds me of it. The building was so cute. She loved living there.

Okay so I did not plant the tomatoes there.

New blinds for the living room. I always wanted vertical blinds for there. The room stays dark with out them. Now I get a lot more light.

I have been crocheting and knitting up a storm. My nerves are a little wound up now. Making a trip to Cleveland Clinic tomorrow. So my fingers are flying. I will have to take pictures of everything .

This is a little tea pot I have had for a while. Not real fancy but I love the colors.

So now I am going to enjoy some of that delicous banana bread and some hot tea.

The House Smells Wonderful. Don't ya just love the smell of fresh baked bread?

I used good ole Betty Crocker's Banana Bread recipe. Plus I added some Chocolate Chips ( 1/2 Bag) and some raisins.
I just love a slice for breakfast. Would you like one???? Plus a cuppa tea???
Check out my granny square blanket i started 1 week ago. I am in love with it. So many colors. I am using alot of my left over yarns. Like Vanna Choice, Lion Brands yarn, Simply Soft, some wool, Cotton ( of Course) . I even threw in some mohair type yarn. Just a great mixture.

This is my older Violet. I have had this one for about 4 years. I really like the varigation in the flowers.

Knitter's Fantasy 2010

Yes I went to Knitter's Fantasy last Saturday. I stayed maybe 1 hour got sick and had to leave. But boy did I buy yarn. There is a company called Autumn House Farms they have a silk rayon blend that is to die for. $14.00 a skein. but ohhhhh i love it.

Check this one out. There is 12 different yarns . WOW!!!

Then I bought this little llama loofah that smells Divine.

Check out there site if ya have time. I would love to visit there farm someday. http://autumnhousefarms.com/ . This the yarn . So nice I already started knitting there shawl pattern that i got last year.

This one only has 2 different yarns. but very pretty i think. There are a few more yarns but well i am saving them for later.

I wish I could have stayed longer, but to be honest I ran out of money. So easy to do when you just love yarn. I had to feel every skein that I liked.

Then they had the http://bagsmith.com/ lady's there. I don't know why but this link is not working I know they also have a BagSmith you tube channel . Plus they are on http://ravelry.com. They are so friendly.It's all about the Big Stitch. Very Cool looking. I would love to try and do something with these.

Easter has always been one of my favorite holidays. My first Daffodil. They really are very pretty flowers.

My mother in law bought me 3 new plants. I REALLY have a thing for VIOLETS. Plus she bought me a purple passion plant. I have the best mother-in-law.

Spring has arrived. The buds on trees and bushes are everywhere. I can't wait to start hearing the spring peepers around our little creek.

Strawberry's & Fru Rosenlund

Yummy Strawberry's My mother-in-law bought some of these babies. First crop we have had from Cal. They were really tasty and juicy. II never really made anything with them cuz we kept just eating them up.

Fru Rosenlund has arrived. She is so cute. Yes I bought one all the way from Norway , from Ravenhill . I wish I could have gotten one of her birds too. They are so springy also. I was thrilled. Do ya like the purple fabric?? I think I am going to make bathroom curtains with it. Maybe I will crochet a edge at the bottom of the curtain. That is the plan. We will see.

Marsala Chicken & Disney Fleece

Love Marsala Wine and Chicken and mushrooms and rice. YUMMMMMY!!! Very simple but soooooo good. Have ya ever tryed cooking with marsala wine. Strong smellin stuff. But I love the flavor when it cooks down. I am not much of a wine drinker, but I do like to cook with it sometimes.
We have had such lovely weather here in ohio. temp's in the 60's. I am so happy spring is this weekend.

I made my sister in law a little fleece blanket from the Disney characters . She just loves cuddling up in it.Sweetie Pie was being silly. I will have to take a picture of her in her new t-shirt next time.

Drop Stitch Scarf

Last year i went to the knitter's fantasy near where i live. Had a Great time. Well i bought this pattern. Well it came in a kit with different yarn.

Fell in love with the pattern. The yarn I used this time is Royal Bamboo from Plymouth yarn company. It is 100% Bamboo. SOOOOO VERRRRY soft. Slippery a bit. but really nice for this type of scarf.

Oh did ya see the fabric for the background???????

Amy Butler's Love design. LOVVE this fabric. What to make with it I don't know.

See my pretty babies.... Jewel is my Bichon Frise. She had a spring hair cut cuz well she loves to be outside . So hard to keep a proper cut Bichon in the spring and summer. But they have cute t-shirts on.

See the glass bowl to the left. That has their favorite treats in it. They were being so nice and patient, just waiting for a treat.

I made it back from the Cleveland Clinic in one piece. The snow was really bad then. It took longer getting home. I feel soo exhausted. Soooo glad to be home.

HOPEFULLY MY COUSIN WILL LOVE IT.
I USED RED HEART YARN. VERY SIMPLE STITCH PATTERN LIKE I SAID BEFORE. I CHAINED 120 AND THEN SC IN 3 RD CHAIN FROM HOOK.
THAN I DID A SC,DC IN EVERY 3RD CHAIN. VERY COOL PATTERN. PLUS I DID A SC CROCHET EDGING AROUND THE ENTIRE AFGHAN.THAN FOR A BONUS. I MADE A ARMY COLORS TOTE BAG. My FIRST REAL TOTE BAG. YIPPEE.THIS IS A SNEAK PEAK OF SOMETHING ELSE I AM WORKING ON I HAVE TO GO TO CLEVELAND CLINIC FOR MORE TESTS.THIS TIME I HAVE TO STAY FOR A NIGHT. YUCK.

Afghan for my cousin

So my cousin is retired from the army and he wanted me to make him a afghan. So what colors come to mind ??????

He really loves all them camo colors. Me not so much. I can't wait to get this done.

I think I have 6 more skein of yarn to do. GOD HELP ME.

I am using one of my favorite patterns very simple sc, then dc in forth chain from hook. I love the simplicity of it. I can watch reruns of Ghost Whisperer and not miss a step. Ya see I was late to catching on to that show. So I have been tivo ing them from monday nights on scifi chanel.

Fingerless Gloves

What have we been doing since 2010 has started?????? Digging out of the snow. Plus knitting and crocheting. The temps. have been so brittle cold.

I have made several pairs of these. They make the best little gifts. But I kept the green ones for me.

Fingerless Gloves are Easy and Awesome to wear. Knitting them is pretty easy. One pattern I tryed using circular needles then the other pattern I used straight needles. Well I have to tell ya I LOVE the Straight needle method. Don't ya just love a well used pattern????

Are ya getting ready for the Holidays???? There is always sooo much to do. So little time. I am trying to get back in the swing of things. Hopefully there will be more blog posts.

I know the colors are very summery. I bought the yarn in the summer. I think it turned out cute. I used bulky yarn.

Canning Tomato's

So far 25 quart size jars.

Canned tomatoes are sooo delecious in the winter time. We put them in stews, soups, and of course chilli.

Cute tea pot . I have a small collection of them. I really love these chairs. Very comfortable. You won't believe but they came from a yard sale. 2 matching chairs from a local sale for 50 bucks.

Fun with Cotton and Cherries

For some reason I love to make dishcloths. It must be the feel of cotton. I found this cute pattern. So I had to knit a few . It is on the dishcloth Boutique site.
Plus I had to have a few Cherries. They really make me smile. Such sweet treats.

Just bursting with flavor.

I have been on a lot of medicines lately so I am craving foods. Cherries seem to help with the sweetness factor. Plus I am still able to get them here for around $1.99 a pound. So I am enjoying them.

This one I use 2 different colors. It kinda reminds me of a circus. Ya know Dumbo colors.

I keep running out of stitch markers. So I decided to make a few more. They are soo easy to make.

I have been very busy for the month of June.My parents and I went visiting family down the Ohio river. They live in a national forest in the middle of no mans land. These are my uncles cows.

We put flowers on the graves. This is the old church that my grandma Stella used to go to church. She was raised in a little log cabin down the road a ways.
I heard so many story's . My grandparents only had horse and buggy for years.

Went to Amish Country in Central Ohio. LOVE LOVE the country. So many things to see. I only took 2 yes 2 pictures. What was I thinking. There are alot of Amish villages around central Ohio. They sell baked goods, wood furniture. All kinds of things. Meats and Cheeses.

Then at the end of June I was in the hospital. BIG TIME SCAREY. Doctors say more tests to be done. Fun Fun.

Not much knitting or crocheting hopefully more soon.

My husband loves his Japanese maple tree. The little yellow plants are hosta's. Plus I have some Lamb's Ear. Pretty cool Huh. Sweetie Pie is growing leaps and bounds. She is at her terrible 2's. Tearing up her toys. Thank God for toys though. The only time you can get a good picture of a puppy is when they are sleepy.

My first pair of knitted socks. They took months, cause I kept finding other projects to do. I really loved making these. Kay the owner of my LYS has helped me soooooo much. I had no idea how to do these socks. She was patient and taught me how.

I gave these to my handicapped sister-in-law to keep her little feet warm.

My Lucky Day at a Garage Sale

Look what I found at a Garage Sale in eastern Ohio. Guess what I payed for each set??????? Can ya take a guess?????

I pain 50 cents each. Wow!!!!! Yeah that's right 5 bucks for all. These days garage sales RULE!!!!!! If you can see in the plastic baggie is a j crochet hook, stitch markers, plus guards for knitting needles. I have been looking for double pointed knitting needles. Plus did ya see the double crochet hook ( crohook).

So I love to make crazy yarn bags. They are sooooo much fun. Anything goes.

This one as you can see is green's. Bamboo handles too.These bags are handy to make. I held 3 yarns together for this one.

Knitter's Fantasy

Spring has Sprung. I went to knitter's fantasy. I took 2 crochet classes. and had lunch. Plus did a little shopping. I told myself not to bring the checkbook and no credit card. Soo I had to borrow $1.00. to get the final pattern I wanted. Thank God for friends.

I had soo much fun. I stayed all day. Very interesting people were there, some were from all over the united states. One thing I noticed is that yarn and beads go well together. With either knitted or crochet patterns. Gorgeous stuff.

Puppy's and Hospital's

Well,

We finally got a new puppy. We are calling her Sweety. She weigh's 2 pounds. She was born on January 19th. Such a cutie. She is. Joe my husband is soo happy, he even named her. He played with tiny dog alot . Now he can train and play with Sweety.

Remember my mother-in-laws pup? His name is Bo Bo. He came for a visit.
He never met our bird Ozzie yet. He walked in the room and Ozzie had a fit. So BOBO cryed for hours. He was SOOOOO Scared. We all laughed so hard our stomachs hurt.

I have been so busy with my dad. He had to go up to cleveland clinic for heart surgery. So far in 1 month he has had 4 surgery's. Very stressfull. But We ALL survived. I ended up getting a bad cold. Now it's in my chest. Thank God for antibiotics.

I brought my dad home yesterday. FINALLY.

I can't wait until next saturday. The knitter's fantasy is going on . I will be taking 2 crochet classes. I wanted to take a knitting class but they must of been full. I have not been knitting or crocheting much. Way to busy. But I hope to get back to it this week.

new fancy yarn and fingerless mitts

This is new yarn from last week. Feeling yarn is so fun. The multi color one is silk. I think I will make a shawl with it. The varigated blue one, maybe a horizontal scarf. The green???? Not sure there.My first knitted fingerless gloves. WOW. I was nervous. But it worked. First time to use double pointed needles. I had used alpaca yarn. 1 skein and you see how much is left. I am pretty proud of myself with the thumb.
My external modem fried last week. So I could not check my emails and my favorite blogs for a while. I was surprised how much I missed it.

I went to my local yarn shop and bought more yarn since than. Plus a very cool book ( knitting). All about the knit stitch. Very cool patterns. Just plain knitting NO purling . Sounds interesting.

When you are a crocheter or knitter it seems you have soooo many ideas. Not enough time. Oh I signed up for a local Knitter's Fantasy. All day playing with yarn. I signed up for some crochet and knitting classes. In the fee you also get a really nice lunch too. April 4th. I can't wait. I never did anything like this before.

Pink Cotton Washcloth & Soap Saver

These are some of favorite projects. You can't have enough of dish clothes or face clothes. Plus I love to crochet the soap savers. I found the pattern for the soap saver on Crochet Pattern Central. I have used that pattern for years.My dad had heart surgery last week for his defibrillator. He had a bad infection. The surgeon had to go in and clean and scrape the area where the defibrillator is. I have been soo busy with him and my mom. She has M.S. We are hoping he comes home today. This is a cute OLD picture of him . This was one of my favorite pictures of him.

Very Simple One Skein Scarf

I saw this yarn at Kay's yarn shop. Royal Bamboo made in Italy from Plymouth Yarns. Soooo Soft. I fell in love with it. I only had enough money for one skein. What do ya do with one skein???? Make a scarf??? I checked Ravelry( of course) and a women had written a simple pattern. I of Course made a few changes. I think it took me 2 hours give or take.1 skein very soft yarn 50 g= 93 yards ( what I used)
size 10 needles

Co 18
knit 1 row,
knit 1, yarn over, knit 2 together, keep doing this until end than
knit 1 row,
Bind off.

Very simple and lovely. That's what I think. I wish I had $200. so I could go into Kay's yarn shop and just buy everything in there that I want. Gorgeous stuff. I walk around and around just feeling her yarns. Sick Right??? I love wool yarn but I have to be carefull cause I allergic to it. But the colors that people come up with. Wow they POP. Kay has taught me sooo much about knitting. I am so grateful to her.

I have started alot of projects lately . I can't wait to show them.

Very Simple pattern

Crochet Hook I or J

Chain 90

Single crochet in* 2nd chain, then chain 1 * Do this to the end.

Join be careful not to twist.

Then turn and single crochet in the same stitch and chain 1. * single crochet and chain 1* until end.

Keep doing this until it is as long as you want.

My Mom made the best Chilli. I grew up in south Texas and one of the rodeo foods was frito's Chilli. Yum . I changed it up over the years. Now I add 2 or 3 types of Beans( Love Beans). Plus I try to can tomatos every year. When I can them, I put Zuccini and sometimes garlic and pepper. It really makes the canned tomatos good.

I have a crock pot so it makes cooking soups so easy. I don't know what I would do without my crock pot.

Almost finished. Just a few more rows. I did not know what I was going to do with this yarn. I tryed crocheting a very pretty shawl. But it totally messed up. So. This is what I thought of.

Still Alive!!!

My Mother-in-law got a new puppy. He is sooooo cute. They named him Bo. I call him Bo Bo. We are having fun with a new puppy in the family.
I am still alive. This new Job is really different from what I am used to. So it is taking time to get used to it.

My husband and I will get a new puppy sooner or later. We still cry about missing Tiny Dog. Who knew that we were such babys when it came to our little dogs.

Hat, Icesicle,Lots of Snow

My first knitted hat. It was very simple. Thank God. Check out the Icesickle. So many people try to knock them down and they end up hurting themselves. I have not been making much. Hopefully soon.

We have had a lot of snow. I think we have had 18 -20 inches in a few days. The roads can be sooo dangerous. I keep the birdhouses up just in case.

Headbands Knitted

I think Headbands are way cool. When I go to the Thursday night knitters group everyone is doing different things. Ponchos,blankets, hats, socks, purses, scarfs, you name it they do it.
I got this pattern from them. Very simple cable headband. But it is so cute. I am addicted to them.

I found out that because I am left handed, WELL they told me that I am Knitting left handed. I hold my yarn in my left hand. I guess that is wrong...

At first I was hurt by this. But now that is the way I do it. Maybe I will try to learn to do it right handed.

This is the last of the green yarn too. I am kinda glad. I was going to model it but well my hair is not done. HAHA
I started a white one now .I gave away the purple one.

Wuthering Heights

Wuthering Heights

One of the coolist books out there ( My Opinion). I was first introduced to this masterpiece when I was in high school in south Texas( 9 th grade). I had the BEST English teacher. She taught me sooo much in 1 year than all of those English teachers put together. Funny how somtimes things like that happen.

Ever since High school I have watched this movie around Christmas. Something about the wind howling and snow drifting. Very dark movie. My husband tolerates watching it.
The actors are at the their castle on the moors. They went there since they were children. What PASSION .
These pictures are from the old black and white movie. I have a copy of it .
I think I have 2 different copys of the book. They are different from the movie.

I love the Bronte sisters. Emily Bronte wrote Wuthering Heights in 1847. I think she was 30. She died the next year. This is her only book publication. She had 2 sisters and 1 brother. You might remember Charlotte Bronte she wrote Jane Eyre. Another Tragic LOVE story.

The famous end seen. I cryed the first time I saw it and every time since TRUE LOVE.

A lot of people don't like it because it IS so dark. But I have to admit I have a dark side. I always feel and see the pain of people.

I read alot of books. LOVE BOOKS.

I have been making lots of head bands. I just learned to knit cables the right way. So now my new love is cable headbands. Hopefully I don't give them all away before I can take pictures.

I make alot of these cookies at the holidays. YUM. I took some to the knit group on thursday night. People gobbled them up. Oh, I made rudolph too. One women wanted me to make her some extra. At this knit group I have picked up some nice knitting patterns. One is for a cabled headband ( which I started last night while watching It's a Wonderfull Life). It won't take to long. Help With Felted Bag

Fat Bottom Bag BROWN

I have had this one made. But no lining since September.

A quick fact about this bag. If you are going to line it.... LINE IN FIRST BEFORE YOU DO THE HANDELS............ Because of the way it gathers. Line it while it is flat.Then I did the lining in October.

Then finally I found some cute buttons. Which one?????
My husband chose this one.

This bag uses a special stitch called Herringbone half double crochet. Very cool stitch once you figure it out. It took me a few tries.

This is the book the pattern is in. I think this book is worth the money.

Pink Waves Scarf

I have made alot of scarves over the years but I have to say. This scarf is pretty cool. I really love the pattern stitch.http://crochetobsession.blogspot.com/ It is the nov. 27 post.

I went to my local yarn shop yesterday to pick up the other skein of of yarn that I needed for this scarf. I stayed 4 hours.

They were having their Thursday night get together. I had such a blast. Boy there are some really talented knitters out there. All of the people were knitting.
They were knitting socks, bags, hats, afghans, shawls, vests,baby afghans, and so on. They invited me back for next week. It is pot lock night. So I should bring something.Last night the lady that owns the shop had split pea soup and cookies and tea. I love tea. I was working on my scarf while I was there. One women had just finished this bag I saw at knitpicks new catalog. It is called Sipalu Bag . It looked soooo hard. She the people at knipicks really helped her with the pattern. She did not want to take to our local yarn shop cause she did not buy it there. But she brought it to show us the finished bag. It was Awesome.

I have been to other knit togethers before but they were so far away. This one is south of me about 20 min. away. Not to bad.

Now what to bring to the next meeting to eat??? Any ideas??????

Here Fishy Fishy

Here are some pictures of our aquariums. We have 5 total. the biggest being 75 gallons.
We enjoy our fish. There is even a Aquarium Society in our area. It is alot of fun to go to fish auctions around here. The big boy up top is a Texas Ciclid. My husband bought him when he was itty bitty. Now he is huge. I did not care for him to much at first. You would be surprise the personality of a fish.

This tank is our 30 gallon. The round looking one is a Discus. My favorite.I need to take more pictures of the tanks. It is pretty hard to take pictures of fish. I was surprised. I keep deletting cause the picture is blurry.

Yarn

Well I am so upset with myself. I have done this before but when??? will i ever learn. ?? When you buy yarn make sure you get enough to do the project. I bought 1 skein of wool called Kaleidoscope from elegant yarns it was $8.99. Very pretty yarn. Well I decided to make a scarf pattern with it. The pattern I was very excited about. I have half of it done and no more yarn.

I am going to try and call my local yarn shop (where I got it from) and see if she has any more. I just love the scarf. I will post a picture soon.

I think it took me 3 hours to do the whole project.I really love how the yarn is. I was very surprised that it came out in 5 different threads together. The yarn is acrylic.

This was my practice run.How cool is this??

I think it was very easy to do. So give it a try. Save the earth and reuse the old sweater that you have in the back of your drawers or closet.

These are soo cute. I am giving them as gifts.I used very thin backing for quilting and cotton material.

This wonderfully bright green is Peaches and Cream 100% Cotton. I really like the color right now.

Sometimes when I find a new pattern and I really like it. Well it's like I fall in love with it. I can't wait to finish it and see what it looks like. BUT then it is finished. SOOO what I do is start another one.

I love anything with cotton yarn. The feel of cotton is comfy to me. That sounds really strange. I only had 1 skein of this color pattern so here is 1 skein worth. I think it turned out nice. A little lopped sided but it works for me. I will try and make more. Pretty fun to make.

I thought this pattern was SUPER easy. For some reason some hat patterns are hard for me to grasp. But this one flew.I used Vanna's Choice Yarn 1 skein of 110gms. was plenty.

One of these days I will use my head to model. I am camera shy. HAHA. Plus I have a big head so sometimes the hats don't fit me. I tryed a hat from Lion Brand's website (Last Week) and it was way to small.

I really like to make hats they are 1 skein projects and cute gifts for people.

This was my first attempt at stitch markers. I used drop earring loops that I got from the craft store. I know they were diffierent lengths, but I like them this way for crochet projects. Hopefully I will get better with my camera.

Here is my little girl Jewel Dog. She is a Bichon Frise.We were waiting for grandma to come for a visit. Jewel likes to wait on the couch.

Loopy Scarf

Loopy Scarf Tool
I bought this little kit from my local yarn store awhile back.

I thought it was a hard to do at first but after wrapping the yarn around the plastic piece a few hundred times I got the hang of it. I love the yarn it is a Boucle type(very soft). I should have bought 2 skeins of the yarn to make it longer. I like my scarfs long.

I woke up to snow everywhere this morning. I had to go to my mother-in-law's house this morning and this is what her backyard looked like.

This is the front of her house. She lives near a animal reserve of land and we see all sorts of wild life.

Trying to breathe

PERSONAL NOTE TODAY ( I was feeling sad and having a hard time breathing) I normaly don't rant and moan except to my loving and wonderful husband.

ASTHMA

What is it?????

Constriction of the air ways due to pollutants which causes swelling of the air ways and creates mucus overload.

That's my take on Asthma

I have had it all of my life. Yeah Lucky me. Lately I have had a very hard time of it. I have been a Medical Assistant since 1989. Now I can't go to work. I can't breathe long enough to last 4 hours at a job. So now we don't have health insurance. I am trying sooooo HARD not to go in the hospital.

My asthma was under control for 18 years now I feel like I am going to die. Just black out and never wake up.

I know there are worse things to have in life. BUT

It is sooo hard to breathe sometimes. Go figure. Most people take it for granted. But I don't.

Just to take a deep breath.

Thats all I want to do.

My newish book is Stitch'n bitch crochet The Happy Hooker by Debbie Stoller

I used red hart super saver yarn. Very easy pattern to do. To me this is mindless crochet. You can be ingrossed in watching tv and finish this in about 2 or 3 hours.

There are a few cool patterns in this book. My local yarn shop did not have the book so I had to order it online. For some reason my LYS does not carry ANYTHING about crochet. What's up with that??? She told me she would try to order a few books on crochet.

Felted Flowers

Did ya ever just love a candle??? I love this one it's Eucalyptus .
My husband is not fond of it but I am.

I have a Jack Russell Terrier mix that is my baby. But he is getting old 16 or 17. I rescued him back in 1994. The vet said then that he was probable 3 or 4 years old. I think he will be going to doggy heaven soon.

He does not jump around like he used to. Boy those dogs can jump. My husband mentioned that Tiny will not last much longer. As soon as the words came out of his mouth I started to cry. What a Wimp I am. We have no kids so we spoil our animals. We both thought about getting him stuffed when he dies. BUT that is really creepy..... Crocheted flowers that I did in wool yarn. Then I felted them.
Who knows What I am going to do with them????? But I thought they were pretty. I have not done many flowers before and I thought I would try these.

Acorn Squash Crockpot & Can Cozy

Yummy. We (my husband & I ) eat a lot of crockpot food. You can make anything in it. I found this cool sitehttp://crockpot365.blogspot.com/ I changed the recipe a little because I did not have some of the stuff.
The recipe calls for :
1 pound turkey or chicken ( I used very lean Stew meat)
yellow onion ( I used 2)
3 chopped garlic cloves ( I used 6) Wow My husband lovesss Garlic
1 can of Kindey beans rinsed and drained
1 sweet potato, pealed and chopped ( I did not have 1)
3 red potatoes( I used 5 cause I did not have a sweet potato
1 acorn squash, peeled and chopped ( heat in microwave 8 min. then let cool, verrry hot)
4 cups broth ( I used beef and veggie)
1 can tomatos plus some hot peppers
cloves( I did not have any)
all spice ( 0 in my cupboard)
salt and pepper

I always boil my meat or brown it first then put in crockpot.
peel and chop the veggies
peel and chop the acorn squash
pour everything in crockpot

cook on high 4 hrs than I turned it down to low for 2 or 3 hours.

Yum
My husband and I loved it. I am taking bites in between typing this (HA HA)

Ch 4 slip to form ring
6 sc in ring, join in top of slip
sc in same stitch
sc around.
keep sc around
when you reach your desired height finish off.

There are even ones for bottled waters.

Cool Purse

This purse took me 1 day to make except the lining. One of my favorite colors . I seem to have a passion right now for purses. I found this one at http://thecrochetdude.biz .It took me a few times to figure the shape out but I finally figured it out. This is a crochet purse by the way. I had a hard time finding yarn for this one because,Well, I Huh, Am not verry organized with my yarn stash. Some of it is in bags. Some in plastic containers. My husband gets upset of course. Oh well. I love to dig through it all. The textures and colors. One of these days!!!

Tulip Design Dish cloth

Small Purley Puffs Hat

The pattern is very easy to follow. I never did a puff stitch before and I thought it was fun.

dishcloths and potholder

Cool potholder that I crocheted. It's thicker than some I have seen unless you make 2 and crochet them together. Basketweave design. I really like this one.

The reason I wanted to knit was cause of all the cool dishcloths. When I finally learned I was surprised of all the other things you could knit. This one is a tulip design. VERY SIMPLE. I am doing it now.

This little thing is a mum( flower). I think it is really cute.

Felted Bowl

Did you ever try and felt something??????

I love to felt wool yarn. This is a bowl that I did.
It is knitted in the round on No. 6 circular needles. Cast on 25 stitches. Knit 14 rounds. Knit along sides and start knitting in the round for 10 or 12 rounds. Next I added multicolored yarn 10 rounds. Increase 4 stitches then when your done with the color yarn decrease those 4 stitches. Knit 2 rounds. Decrease 2 stitches. Knit 2 rounds. Decrease 2 stitches. Find the # of stitches to make middle for holes. knit holes. then knit 6 rounds. all done.

Then you stick it in the washer with some old jeans and wash on hot water with a little bit of soap. I stuffed mine with plastic bags to make shape and let dry.

I grew up in the 70's and Holly Hobbie was a big collectors item back then. I still to this day LOVE Holly Hobbie. So here is a cute picture to brighten your day!!!

I still have some old ceramic Holly Hobbie figurines.

Lots and Lots of Shells

One of my favorite pattern stitches are

shells and v-stitches.They are easy to do while watching tv.That's when I do the most of my crocheting or kntting. This is a old pattern from the 80's. This patterns called for 2 yarns held together and changing color every row. It took me about 3months to do this one. I think it was worth it.

Working with yarn is so relaxing to me. When I serf the net or blogs its amazing that i am not the only one with 3 or 4 or more projects yet to be finished. Why is that??? We get so excited over starting them and then we finish most of it . we then will wait to do the lining or embelish it. It's so funny to me. I have at least 6 projects waiting for this or that. But I HAVE to start that new bag pattern(HAHA).
